双语天地Bilingual World 走进历史悠久的玉林高山村
在2017年“最美古村落”榜单中，广西有4个古村落入选。“There are four villages in Guangxi have been selected on the list of the Most Beautiful Ancient Villages 2017.”。5月21日，我们介绍了钦州灵山县佛子镇大芦村。这期，我们来看看也入选“最美古村落”的玉林市玉州区高山村，它到底美在哪里。“We will see what the beauty of Gaoshan Village is.”。
高山村始建于明朝天顺年间，至今已有500多年。“Gaoshan Village was set up in the Ming dynasty. It has more than 500 years of history.”。
高山村不仅历史悠久、文化积淀深厚，还较完整地保留了明清时期岭南地区社会、文化风貌特色，具有较高的历史、文化艺术和科学研究价值。因此，2004年，高山村被玉林市人民政府评为市级文物保护单位。“It was announced as the city-level cultural relic protection unit by Yulin municipal people's government in 2004.”。
除了建村历史，“最美古村落”的另一评比标准是保存有一定数量的房屋古建筑(a certain number of ancient buildings)，且有浓郁的地方特色(the strong local features)，其工艺水准(technology standards)、艺术价值(artistic value)、观赏价值较高(visual value)，即具有较高的旅游开发价值(tourism development value)。
据了解，高山村现存明清宗祠13座，进士名人故居和其他古民宅60座150幢，以及古井、古戏台、古剧场、古石碑、古围墙等一批古建筑，建筑面积达51000多平方米。整个古代建筑群规模宏大，布局形式独特，地方特色鲜明。“The total floor area of the ancient buildings is more than 51000 square meters. It is large in size, unique in layout and distinctive in local features.”。
古人云:“万般皆下品，唯有读书高。”“As ancient saying goes, to be a scholar is to be the top of the society.”。
明万历年间（1574年），高山村里便办起了“独堆坡书房”，随后各个家族竞相开办启学蒙馆、大馆、私塾等，到清末全村共有15间。最让村人骄傲的是，明清时代出过4名进士，21名举人，193名秀才，是远近闻名的进士村。“What makes the villagers proud is that there were 4 Jinshi, 21 Juren and 193 Xiucai in this village during the time of the Ming and Qing dynasties. It is a Jinshi Village known to all.”。
